Conflicting Reports of Potential Threat From JFK Fuel Line Bomb Plot

This news report is from CBS. Please pay attention and look at how many contradictions there are, just in this one article.

“Four Muslim men were foiled from carrying out a plot to destroy John F. Kennedy International Airport, kill thousands of people and trigger an economic catastrophe by blowing up a jet fuel artery that runs through populous residential neighborhoods, authorities said Saturday. ”

Please note, this says they were foiled from carrying it out as if it could be carried out and as if they were stopped from killing thousands of people.

Three men were arrested and one was being sought in Trinidad on Saturday. In an indictment charging the four men, one of them is quoted as saying the plot would “cause greater destruction than in the Sept. 11 attacks.”

These men were being watched by the FBI, who knew they were planning terror attacks, yet this suspect was allowed to fly on a commercial airline?

“Authorities said the four were motivated by a pattern of hatred toward the U.S., Israel and the West.

One of the suspects, Russell Defreitas, a U.S. citizen native to Guyana and retired JFK employee, said the airport was a symbol that would put “the whole country in mourning.”

“Anytime you hit Kennedy, it is the most hurtful thing to the United States,” he said on a recording made by a police informant. “They love John F. Kennedy like he’s the man … It’s like you can kill the man twice.”

Now note, these men don’t sound like they were planning to blow up a series of  fuel lines that would run to Linden, NJ as some reports have said. In fact, if this is to be believed, then one would have to wonder how or why they felt so strongly about JFK being a symbol of America.

“The plot, which the men code-named “Chicken Farm,” never got past the planning stages, authorities said.”

Now don’t get me wrong, but this to me sounds like an analogy for scaring people into control.

“CBS 2 has learned Defereitas first talked about the plot at the Queens Center mall with an FBI informant in August of last year. The FBI says they recorded several of the conversations between the two.”

That sounds like good mall conversation. I wonder if they were outside of Kay Bee Toys or sitting in the food court while they plotted the destruction of an International Airport.

The devastation that would be caused had this plot succeeded is just unthinkable,” U.S. Attorney Roslynn R. Mauskopf said at a news conference, calling it “one of the most chilling plots imaginable.”

It’s not that chilling, mostly because as you will read, it wouldn’t have worked. If I plotted to shoot a laser beam from space down to Earth to blow up a building, it wouldn’t work, so it’s just not very chilling.

“Despite their “extraordinary efforts,” the men never obtained any explosives, authorities said.”

Is that what they were doing at the mall? I saw Back to the Future too. But only crazy terrorists sell bombs at the mall. Doc Brown scored himself some plutonium though, and from Libyan terrorists to, so I guess it could work.

Mayor Bloomberg was briefed about the plot, and issued this statement:

“The fact that plotters conspired to plan an attack on John F. Kennedy Airport is another reminder that in today’s world we face constant threats from people who want to take away our freedoms and destroy our way of life.”

Look, terrorists want to kill us. They don’t want to take our freedoms away, they want to cut our heads off. If it was freedom they were worried about they would take our soldiers as hostages and lock them away in cells where they have no freedom. They want death.

“Working together, NYPD and other local and federal law enforcement agencies have been on top of this unfolding plot for months, and they deserve our thanks and praise. This plot was only in its planning stages and at no point was anyone in imminent danger.”

How long exactly does one have to plan for an attack like this? It was in it’s planning stages and they started planning this last summer? If you can find the original post I made on this you will find the initial news coming out was that the plan had been abandoned because they realized it couldn’t be pulled off.

But I will tell you who was in imminant danger. Anyone that was sitting on a plane next to one of these guys. The FBI never added them to a no fly list. They went to Guyana looking for targets and one of them is in Trinidad as we speak. How in the world could they let these guys get on planes?

“New Yorkers should be comforted that the layers of safety provided by counter terrorism officials stopped these individuals before they could do any harm to our way of life.”

Way of life? What about to the thousands of employees and travelers that could have been killed. Really pay attention here. It sounds like Bloomberg is more worried about New York having JFK up and running than he is about protecting lives.

“Pulling off any bombing of this magnitude would not be easy in today’s environment,” said Former U.S. State Department counterterrorism expert Fred Burton, though he added that it was difficult to determine the severity of the threat without knowing all the facts of the case.”

And by this point CBS assumes you’ve stopped reading and thus, they can start spilling the beans without you actually finding out all of the facts.

“Richard Kuprewicz, a pipeline expert and president of Accufacts Inc., an energy consulting firm that focuses on pipelines and tank farms, said the force of any explosion would depend on the amount of fuel under pressure, but it would not travel up and down the line. “

There you have it. The explosion would not have traveled through the pipe and as such, there was never a threat.  This plot, like the space laser I mentioned before is not realistic and was never a threat.

That doesn’t mean wackos out there can’t do damage and cause a fire, but those explosions and fires are going to be fairly restricted,” he said.

Oh, so we’d only be dealing with a fire? Hmmm, you don’t say… because I read earlier that this is “one of the most chilling plots imaginable.” I think the Death Star was more chilling, though I agree, they are both imaginary threats.

I will now remind you of how this article began, “Four Muslim men were foiled from carrying out a plot to destroy John F. Kennedy International Airport, kill thousands of people and trigger an economic catastrophe by blowing up a jet fuel artery that runs through populous residential neighborhoods, authorities said Saturday.”

So they were foiled from pulling of a plot a destroy JFK, kill thousands, and to blow up a series of fuel lines… yet, it wouldn’t have worked. how could they have been foiled then? Oh that’s right, they were foiled from carrying out a plot to try do those things. But the wording here makes it sound so much worse than it was…

Since Defreitas has worked at the airport, security has tightened, and his knowledge of the operation was severely outdated.

Clearly his lack of security knowledge was dwarfed only in his ridiculously stupid terror planning. In 10 months he couldn’t get his hands on an explosive and although he’s given credit for trying to blow up all of the pipelines… as if his time as a baggage handler taught him all about the airports underground fuel pipe system.

I find it impossible to believe this guy knew about thise pipes and intended to blow them up, but didn’t realize putting an explosive in a pipe wouldn’t get the job done.

“The men tried to reach out to a Trinidadian radical Muslim group, Jamaat al Muslimeen, which launched an unsuccessful rebellion in 1990 that left 24 dead, according to the indictment.”

So we have a limp minded terrorist, that is incapable of making contact with a failed terror group. These people are like the Three Stooges.

“Defreitas, a 63-year-old Brooklyn resident, first hatched his plan more than a decade ago when he worked as a cargo handler for a service company, according to the indictment. He was recorded saying he “wanted to do something to get those bastards,” and he boasted that he had been taught to make bombs in Guyana. ”

OK STOP STOP STOP! A decade ago… wow he was ahead of his time. Was he being investigated back then? Were they recording his phone calls back then? Then how can they say he came up with the plan 10 years ago?

He was taught to make bombs in Guyana? Then in the world were these guys going to “extraordinary efforts,” to get a bomb? Come on, this is ridiculous. This story is disinformation and whoever is cooking it up isn’t even a good liar.

If someone can make a bomb, they won’t go insane trying to “get” a bomb. We’ve all heard how bombs can be made from fertilizer and household goods… This is insane. He bragged about knowing how to make bombs, but he couldn’t pull the attack off because he couldn’t get a hold of a bomb…. come on!

“Investigators received information about the plot in January 2006, according to the indictment.”

What are they talking about, remember this line? “Defereitas first talked about the plot at the Queens Center mall with an FBI informant in August of last year.”

I’ve read enough, this is a bogus and poorly scripted story. If not, then you all should be calling Homeland Security and demanding to know why these guys were never stopped from flying. One of them is still at large and somehow, I don’t think he swam to Trinidad.

  1. I agree. Unless they take these cases to trial they are an example of the powerful manipulating the people they keep in the dark. Sad. We need to clean house and start all over again down. Everyone needs to be fired.
