Communist Fidel Castro Resignation from Role as President of Cuba 

Cuban leader Fidel Castro resigned as Cuba’s president in the wee morning hours on Tuesday after a half-century in power.  In a letter published today by online official media sources stated that Castro won’t accept a new term.

The 81-year-old Castro made his late night announcement and has now effectively ended his 50 year rule over Cuba. Castro’s brother Raul, himself 76 years old is seemingly next in line for succession to the Cuban presidency.
