Chastity Ring Banned by British High Court, Middle Easterners Allowed Headscarves and Bracelets

The case of the Chastity Ring, reveals the clear undermining of Christianity by the British Court System. Not only are the court and school systems willing to go out of their way in their appeasement of Middle Eastern religions, but they’ve now decided that the courts have the power to determine what is and what is not a “genuine” symbol of Christianity.

The British High Court has ruled that a teenage girl banned by her school from wearing a purity or chastity ring to symbolise her opposition to pre-marital sex did not discriminate against her religious beliefs.

The girl in question, Miss Playfoot, is the daughter of a Christian minister, and was one of a dozen girls that wore chastity rings, engraved with a Bible verse from 4th chapter of 1 Thessalonians,  to show their intention to abstain from pre-marital sex.

The girl’s lawyers argued in court that “the school had allowed Muslim and Sikh pupils to wear headscarfs and religious bracelets, and her ring should also be regarded as a genuine religious symbol.”

Article 9 of the Human Rights Act protects the expression of religious belief and states such expression has to be respected unless it “broke the law or health and safety considerations.”

But the Judge ruled that the chastity ring could not be regarded as a “proper” Christian symbol, and therefore the school had not breached the Act.
